(Atlanta, GA, November 11, 2014) Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs (ACE) took a page from the playbook of romantic matchmakers and held a “Speed Coaching” event for women entrepreneurs who are starting or growing a business- without the social awkwardness of a bad date afterward.

The unusual conference, held November 5 at the Loudermilk Center in Atlanta, attracted more than 80 attendees who enjoyed access to premier coaches Susan Nethero, founder of Intimacy; Mary Parker, President and CEO of All(n)1 Security and Chair of the Atlanta Business League; and Meg Reggie, founder of MRPR, as well as 37 other coaches who specialized in marketing, funding, long-term strategies, and other challenges in operating a small business.

Leona Barr-Davenport, President and CEO of the Atlanta Business League, rings the bell to signal coaches and attendees to switch sessions at the recent WISE Speed Coaching event coordinated by Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs (ACE).

ACE is a nonprofit community lender, based in Atlanta and Cleveland, Georgia, that combines small business loans with business advisory services for entrepreneurs.

Between sessions of speed coaching, the entrepreneurs traded business cards as well as insights. “Not only have I learned some valuable tips from the coaches, but I also have met other women whose businesses potentially could collaborate with mine on projects that will be a win-win for both of us,” said Nanci Love of Occupied Renovations. “I like the pace of it, too, because it forces everyone to get straight to the point of useful information rather than sitting through a long, droning PowerPoint.”

Leona Barr-Davenport, President and CEO of the Atlanta Business League rang a bell to keep time for each, brief session.

“This event was even more successful than we had hoped,” said Grace Fricks, ACE founder and CEO. “You can look around the room and sense so much ingenuity and innovation. Our goal is to help entrepreneurs channel that creativity into sustainable businesses that generate jobs and strengthen the economy. We’ll definitely do this again.”
